Summer 2024 internship to MBB

Hi Everyone,

I am currently a junior at a top academic institution(HYP) looking to break into MBB, I did not get MBB interviews this recruiting cycle so I am going to try and recruit full-time. I went through the internship recruiting process and was able to come out with a couple of successes. I have an offer to be a product manager at a top financial services institution(think MS, JP Morgan, Amex), and an offer to work for this business rotational program internship at another top financial services company (think Citi, MS, Bofa) etc... I am very grateful for these offers. In addition, I currently have final rounds coming up at RBI for the LDP program, Accenture for the consulting development program, and Guidehouse consulting. I am not sure what to do or what to prioritize if I want to set myself up to go MBB full-time out of college. I was hoping to receive some guidance.

Thank you!

Hey there,

First off, congratulations on your offers and upcoming final rounds! That's no small feat. Now, let's get down to business.

If your ultimate goal is to land a full-time role at MBB, it's important to consider which of your current opportunities will best prepare you for that. While all the roles you mentioned are impressive, some might give you a more relevant skill set and experience than others.

The product manager role at a top financial institution could provide you with valuable experience in managing projects and working cross-functionally, both of which are key skills in consulting. On the other hand, the business rotational program could give you a broader view of how different parts of a business operate, which could also be beneficial in a consulting role.

As for your final rounds, the consulting development program at Accenture and the role at Guidehouse consulting could provide you with direct consulting experience, which would likely be looked upon favorably by MBB firms.

In the end, it's about choosing the opportunity that you feel will best equip you for a future role at MBB, while also being a good fit for your interests and career goals. Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all answer here, and different paths can lead to the same destination.

Good luck with your decision! You're in a great position, and I'm sure you'll make the right choice for your career.
