Career switcher past 30. Need some advice
Hello, everyone. I am new to this board, but there seem to be enough helpful people here and i could use some unbiased opinion.
I went to a 2nd tier school for my undergrad, and worked for a number of different companies, mostly telecom and financials. I also ran my own consulting company, doing IT consulting for 4 years ( pretty successful ).
At some point i got sick of it, and for personal reasons had to relocate. I took this opportunity to start in an MBA program, so i am now a full time MBA student at a non-target school in healthcare management.
I had 740 on my GMAT and on top of my MBA class.
I was not really sure of what I wanted to do with my life, aside from my interest in healthcare, but at this point I'm interested in doing MC in healthcare.
There is a summer internship offer on a table from PwC, which I'm inclined to accept.
Here are my questions 1) What's would be the career progression like at PwC for someone like me? 2) Do I have a chance at MBB next year with my background? 3) How much of a difference is there from a career progression/pay between MBB and PwC?

I think you have a shot based on your profile, although I'm not sure how your school is perceived.
In particular: Age: on the high side, but not a deal-breaker. Background: good (although frankly they probably prefer people with limited relevant background but prestigious companies over people with lots of relevant experience) GMAT: within range, but probably only slightly above average for MBB.
As for how to proceed with MBB, it depends on their presence on campus. If they recruit MBA's, it's straightforward. I assume from your post that they do not. Then, if they at least recruit BA's, you can start with the BA recruiting coordinator. If they don't recruit even BA's, things are even harder but I'd start with the recruiter for the Boston offices.
Also, talk to your office of career services to get their take.
One thing to consider is that Boston is often one of the tougher offices to get into, since they are filled with HBS and Sloan kids. Are you willing to relocate to a less competitive office? Not every office does pharma or biotech, but just about all of them do payer/provider.
I can't comment on PwC, but I assume the career progression there is similar as for younger MBA candidates--if you have the right sales skills you can make partner. It's definitely a good brand name on your resume which may help your credibility with MBB.
By the way, you have spelled out your profile in enough detail that anybody at your school or PwC can probably figure out who you are. Not sure if that's what you want.
