Chances of getting T2 Consulting from undergrad?
I’m an incoming first year undergrad so I’m a little new to this. From my understanding, getting into MBB out of undergrad is very difficult for everyone, with HYPSW getting an edge. How does getting a job at a “Tier 2” consulting firm compare? I know it’s still difficult, but I’m wondering if it’s a more realistic goal to set for myself. Since this is anonymous, I’ll say I’m going to UChicago, if that gives more context to answer my questions.

To give you a more serious answer, it's still generally quite tough. The thing about consulting is that when you compare MBB vs T2 shops like OW, Strategy&, LEK, etc, they are actually considered better in part because they are larger and have more scale. Thus, MBB also have larger analyst classes and hire more people. Any serious consulting candidate will be going through MBB and T2 and a lot of people can attest to the fact that it's hard to predict who lands at MBB vs T2 as it often comes down to extraneous factors outside of candidate control. Typically people who land at both MBB and T2 are magna/summa, often STEM majors with good internships. Consulting recruiting at any target is competitive and it doesn't necessarily get easier with the T2s. My advice, get the highest GPA possible, join ECs and get some leadership positions, and then case a ton before recruiting season. In general, people who did properly prepare for consulting recruiting will get an offer at MBB/T2, the specific firm is harder to pin down.
Does the same apply for Accenture Strategy? I think a good number of students from my school got employee there.
