comprehensive list of firms?
As we get closer and closer to formal recruiting, does anyone have a list of strategy consulting firms beyond MBB/T2/B4? I've looked through this site and a couple others but there doesn't seem to be an aggregated list. Thanks in advance.
Here is an FT article listing a bunch of management consulting firms by specialisation: FT article. You should have access without needing an account (just checked in a private browser tab).
In addition, I would add of course the Vault's rankings: Vault link.
When you disaggregate the firms, you'll find that some firms have very specific specializations that may not appeal to everyone. For instance, Mercer, Korn Ferry and Aon are all HR Consulting Firms and provide services like HR policy inventory management and centralization, HR policy merger & integration from post-acquisition steps and HR Market & Statutory practice bench marking by country. Those services and engagements cover their own breadth of expertise rather than a general strategy & business consulting engagement. The other thing you'll find is that there are country (and state specific) boutique firms that have ~1-50 employees with Partners coming from B4/MBB/T2/T3 consulting shops or from other corporate expertise (like PE/VC). Some of these shops are great for getting a lot of exposure early and getting a niche skillset. If you're interested in the full list, the comment below mentioned some great resources, but the other thing to do is simply google "[State] Boutique Management Consulting" and see what firms come up.
