Crappy GPA CS Major - What can I do?
Hey All,
I am a rising sophomore at the University of Michigan, majoring in Computer Science. I have a crappy GPA (between 3.0 and 3.2). I am interested in Management/Strategy Consulting, along with a few other career tracks. I have a pretty major position in Student Government and I am also involved in a consulting club that handles real cases (but I am just a low-level member). Computer Science will get very time consuming next year - with some hard classes and me having to work on some independent projects (I will be spending more time so I can raise my GPA as much as I can). I will also be working in an unrelated job that pays well (for financial reasons), but is also a time commitment. I have a few questions:
1) Can I drop the consulting club without facing too much of a hit to my chances?
2) What can I do to improve my chances? I am afraid I will not make it past the first step resume screen. I can work on case-style interviewing on my own.
Thank you so much in advance!
