Delay master's graduation (date) to apply to MBB?

Hi All,

Longtime lurker, first time poster. I'm an American finishing an Oxbridge master's program this summer, and looking to apply for an entry-level position with MBB. Are recruiters tolerant of people applying the cycle after they finish?

The other option is I can delay my graduation date. Because of the quirks of the Oxbridge system, we finished coursework in June but will graduate in October or later. We can pick our graduation dates for anytime after October from a list of about 8 per year, and that date is what will appear on the degree. So I can say I'm graduating in December, which would place me in line with next year's recruiting cycle. Thoughts on this approach?

My background: Ivy undergrad with 3.8 GPA, 2 years work experience in healthcare consulting at a boutique firm, 1 year traveling and learning Spanish, 2 years teaching in Thailand with a Fulbright, and a recent internship with the UN on a team dealing with private sector engagement.

This site has been really helpful for learning about consulting and I'd like to say thanks in advance for any advice!

devildog, can you elaborate? My understanding is that it's much easier to be hired at MBB if you're going through the on-campus recruiting route, so I wanted to be in line with this fall's cycle.
