Does getting into an MBB conference help you get into jobs at those firms?

I'm from a non-target and I have a low sat math score but higher CR/W scores but managed to get into a program to visit their firm and network. Does getting into the program mean that I am capable of getting a job there provided I can pass interviews? I have a pretty good GPA (3.8), have a lot of college awards (beta gamma sigma, best in class for my major, dean's list every year, full ride scholarship) , leadership positions and activities, and will be doing my 3rd internship during this summer as a rising senior (however, my internships are in supply chain and human resources and I'm doing human resources again). I'm just confused why they would choose me since I seem like the opposite of their ideal candidate based on my internship choices and poor sat scores (720 CR, 590 M, 680 W). I'm curious if this means I could potentially pass a resume screen and get an interview next fall for full-time.

I wouldn't overthink it. How competitive was this program? Firms cast a wide net during their meet & greet and informational sessions. Interview spots are more limited.

However, you can/ should leverage this opportunity to network efficiently, which will improve your chances next fall.

Ok thanks! I'm not sure about how selective it is but the program is with Bain. I know a couple of my friends didn't get in but that could just be attributed to the fact that they applied later and limited space is available. I only had to submit my transcripts, resume, and cover letter. I really thought I was going to get rejected considering my low quantitative score on the SAT. I was just curious if they actually hire people who demonstrate less mathematical aptitude (around my score).

If this is the sort of event I have in mind - i.e. rather selective with 20-50 students - then it roughly means that you would pass the initial CV screening, at least as far as my experience on both sides of such event goes. Now make a (very) good impression and you will be in a good position for recruiting.

2/3 of my FT offers came from an off-campus recruitment conference. In my experience, events like that, and this event at Bain, are really great/easy ways to make yourself stand out against all of the other people applying from your school. Hundreds of kids apply to big firms from my school, and I know I wouldn't have gotten those two offers (one of which I accepted) if I hadn't gone to this conference. I second Ruhm's comment - the best thing you can do is make a good impression so that they'll be able to put a face to a resume when they're screening. Depending on the logistics of the events, they could offer an interview as well. Good work :)
