Does location matter for consulting?

I was wondering for traveling consultants (think MBB) if the city you are based in matters in terms of exits. Would a F500 or PE MF be more likely to hire from McKinsey NY than McKinsey LA?

“He was very friendly and helpful throughout the session. He provided a lot of practical advice on how to approach coffee chats with consultants. We also did a quick mock coffee chat, during which he gave me detailed and constructive feedback on the types of questions I could ask, how to follow up on responses, and how to explore topics in greater depth.
