Dubai: Citi IB vs. Bain Consulting

Career route to join in terms of exit opportunities, brand name and image (prestige), total COMP, progression and lifestyle. Would appreciate opinions. (Interested in PE, but still not sure if it will be a part of my long term plan)

In Dubai the excellence is consulting vs banking. Transfers outside the region are possible although tough for both opportunities.

The career paths are vastly different, here below few attributes with the best choice for each from my POV

Career progression speed - consulting

Money - banking

Exit opportunities variety - consulting

Exit opportunities PE/investment roles - banking ( possible for consulting but more difficult )

Learning width ( different industries function ) - consulting

Specialisation - banking

To conclude it really depends on what you want as per next step.

both are excellent options if you go into banking you’ll be able to transition into consulting with a discount , it would be hard to do the other way around.

Curious to see what other people think

Thank you, this is helpful.

How about the total compensation package do you have any idea how much it is for an IB Analyst role at Citi Dubai and maybe how the progression looks like there. I heard that Bain is around USD80k-90k per annum if I am not mistaken. How does this compare to banking?
