Economic Consultant Career Questions

This afternoon I had a presenter come from Cornerstone Research to talk a little bit about his route to where he is now, not so much as a recruiting trip. I really enjoyed the sound of what he does and the variety of work he does. I was wondering a few things and was looking for answers if anybody could provide them.

1) I know that travel is different than management consulting but I was curious as to some insight on the hours.

2) How is pay with these jobs at the analyst level?

3) Do I have a chance at landing one of these jobs coming form a non-target with a dual major in finance and MIS and a 5.6 GPA?

4) What is this industry recruiting timeline? I graduate a semester early in the Fall of 2019 and I am not sure when I should be applying to these positions or if I have even missed my shot? Any other general advice and information about the industry would be very interesting as well. I love research and the collaboration and how things were described and could truly see myself doing this potentially.
