Editors, Writers, Public Speakers prior to MBB

Considering most consultants start off as a generalist, then go on to leadership roles in industry or branch off on to their own, how beneficial would it be for an applicant applying to the top consulting firms if they had documented proof of their experience speaking and hosting various events, writing about various topics, or overseeing a magazine with a relatively large distribution?

Additionally, if it is deemed to be beneficial, (talking about it face to face is easy, conveying it in a couple of bullet points seems to be a bit more challenging) how would you incorporate something like that into your resume?

Lastly, are there any WSO monkeys that have used this tactic themselves?

well that is the ideal place I want to be but I have to build up some capital and get a few feathers on my hat before I can do that... consulting, writing and speaking and all the other things I cram into 24 hrs are just the means to an end... any one else care to take a stab at my questions?

Get it!
