Education for Consulting in CEE(Poland, East Europe)

Hello.

I am finishing my Bachelor studies in Management(spec. PM) this summer and looking for part-time Master studies. The choice is between the Master in Finance(18th in FT rating) and Master in Management(36th in FT rating).

What will be more appropriate for me if I am targeting MBB?
About myself: 18 y.o, no corporate work experience, a lot of student activity, since summer starts my summer internship in VC&C Citi.

Let me make sure I have this straight--

1) you're 18 years old 2) you're finishing a bachelor's degree in a few months 3) upon completion of that degree, you'll start an internship with Citi in...what division? 4) you'd like to find a part-time (why?) master's program (why?) 5) given all that, you'd like to work for MBB

What part of the world do you live in? What school was your bachelor's at, and how well have you done in it?

If you can help me with some clarification, then hopefully I can help you.

1) Yes, 19 in the end of May 2) Right 3) Valuation Control Center 4) My parents decided that I am old enough to live on my own, the just support they can provide this is education that won't cause problems to the full-time job. The all MBAs in my country require 5 years of Management experience, while I have none, the MiM od MiF is the best choice then 5) Right, the all MDs I meet don't recommend to work in IB due to regulations

I am Ukrainian, live in Poland(Warsaw). I study in Warsaw School of Economics with GPA from subjects of 3.61/5 + grade will be higher due to Bachelor Thesis. Alsough I am member of student clubs: Investors Club, Club of Financial Engineering, Enactus SGH and VP(lol) in Case Club.

University for Master is Koźmiński University, don't move from Poland yet, maybe after Master

Thanks for the clarification. I have to be honest with you - I have no idea what you should do. I don't have any idea how MBB outside of the US views the education levels unique to other regions. Hopefully there's an Eastern European reader that can step in and offer some insight -- you might consider changing the title of your post to "Education for Consulting in Poland" or something similar to attract the right eyeballs.

Hi, I worked in strategy consulting in Poland, Ukraine and few other countries in the CEE. My advice to you would be: 1) Most of the people at MBB (or other strategy firms in Poland) either studied in London or went to SGH (Warsaw School of Economics) for bachelor's and then did Masters in London (or somewhere else abroad). Regarding Kozminski - I would pick the Master's in Finance as you would benefit from additional quantitative skills. In reality, if you studied in Poland it doesn't really matter where. 2) This brings me to my second point - if you studied in Poland only the key to stand out is to acquire strong work experience. You are 19 and you already got at internships at a respectable firm (frankly it doesnt matter which team at this stage) - this is a good start. After you complete this I would apply to whatever IBD (Rotschild, SocGen, even PEKAO or smaller boutiques) or consulting interships at Big 4 you can get. In Poland an internship doesn't have to be over the summer, you can do it during the year. 3) It is not hard to get an interview at MBB in Poland - they are actively looking for people all the time due to ambitious growth plans, poaching even from the Big 4 and other firms. The hard part is to pass the interview. In parallel I would focus on preparing for cases, they tend to be more numerical-driven than equivalent interviews at MBB in the UK or Germany.

Send me a PM if need to know more.
