No take it - chances you'll land MBB are minimal especially in the current environment

I don’t do consulting but my guess you’d need to frame your IB internship as after the experience you decided you wanted to pursue consulting instead, vs doing S& and saying you always wanted to do consulting, speaking to your experience there, and deciding other firms would ultimately be a better fit. if you want to do consulting, do consulting, right?

I think you should definitely take S&. It lowers risk for MBB during FT hiring if they know you tried consulting and are still interested in it. Also if you want to do consulting, wouldn’t you rather end up at S& FT if re-recruiting at MBB doesn’t work out?

Reach out to the MBB recruiting team at your school and ask if you can be put through an expedited process. I did this for my internship (i.e., had an exploding offer from another internship) and was accommodated by 1/3 MBBs (the one I'm at now :) You have nothing to lose by doing this

I essentially just reached out to alumni with the email subject "Interest in MBB - Exploding offer from XYZ firm" and got a near 100% hit rate. Happy to elaborate more detail if needed!

This is great advice. I’ve heard both the B’s and especially Bain are open to this.

Agree with this, not sure about the Bs but McK definitely has an accelerated process for people with exploding offers
