Flexibility of Projects with Travel in Consulting
Hi all,
I'm due to graduate this year and so have been looking into jobs at management consulting companies, and really like the variety of projects and the ability to learn a lot of new skills. I think the work looks really interesting but am hesitant as to whether the lifestyle is right for me. I'm looking at top and mid-tier firms (e.g. BCG, Accenture, Deloitte etc.) that have home offices in London.
Specifically, I'm worried about how you are mostly away from the home office (aside from Friday's at the office), and was wondering what people's experiences have been with how much flexibility they get to request projects that are based in their home office (or at least home city)? Is it the case you are put on a project without any input of your preferences, and if so does this improve with the years? I wouldn't mind having the occasional project out of town as I know this is expected and gives variety but I worry having this constantly would be difficult.
Thanks in advance!
