FT Recruitment Coming Off An PE Internship

I had a great opportunity to intern for a small PE firm this summer after getting denied by all big consulting firms as I was not 100% in on consulting. But after doing some PE work I am definitely in on consulting as my favorite part from the summer has not been the financial models but rather managing and improving the portfolio companies to help scale them up to a bigger and stronger company. Although this seems like great experience to go into FT recruitment with, it seems like an untraditional path as I really haven't met anyone who has taken a path like this. Most do big 4 work or a fortune 100 company and get a FT consulting gig. Will I be fine and how should I twist my internship path to position myself for a chance at a FT consulting gig?
