I hate to say it, but you are fucked. Not because of your situation, but because of your defeatist attitude. I really don't understand questions like this, you just need to put yourself out there, meet people, and apply for jobs. The fact that you turned down a job in (what seems to be) an area you were interested in, solely because of pay, was a bad decision. You are defeatist and have an elitist attitude.
