how does a PwC strategy internship set me up for the future?
Freshman at a target. Have an internship at PwC lined up for the summer in one of their strategy depts. I'm interested in PE/HF/consulting/product management for the future. I'm wondering how well does a PwC internship set me off with regards to that in the future? I'm doing pretty well in school (3.6+ quant major) + involved in a sports team and a couple of clubs, but no relevant finance/consulting clubs.
I interviewed at a VC firm and a quant firm earlier, but i haven't heard back yet. Safe to say I'm not getting in at either of those places, so PwC is all I have. I'm also planning to do some research over the summer.
Kind of a vague question, but I'd love to hear what you guys have to say. Thanks!
So you're a freshman from a target with a good GPA and a consulting offer from PwC... don't worry about it, you'll do great. Truth be told, most students don't do jack shit between freshman and sophomore year, especially at targets. I went to a semi-target and spent my entire freshman summer hanging around my hometown and eating out a lot, and things went fine for me. If you take the offer from PwC, you'll already have better work experience than 95% of other students applying to sophomore and junior positions in finance and consulting.
that's great to hear. thanks!
Like Fantastic said, it's a very good start. Don't worry too much about it, but keep it up and perform. Nothing is guaranteed.
Like everyone else said, great brand name to have on your resume especially so early in your academic career (regardless of what you decide to do next summer). Great job.
I was under the impression that PwC wasn't as big a name in the US as it is outside, but that's great to hear. thanks for replying!
Yo PM me, in similar boat right now.
