How much power does a Senior Partner/ MD actually have in the recruiting process at MBB?

How much power does a Senior Partner/ MD actually have in the recruiting process at MBB? Any information would be great. I'm genuinely curious

At my MBB, it was pretty sizeable. They can essentially get you an interview.

From there, interviewers are made aware that there is a senior partner rec. While they are still supposed to judge on a normal scale, they will have to give a rationale for why they say no. Ultimately interviewers will generally make the decision as they would otherwise, but if someone is on the border, they would normally get the benefit of the doubt.

Thank you for doing this. Forgive me if I missed this answer along the thread. In your experience, how much power does a senior partner or MD actually have in the recruiting process?
