Independent Consulting Project on Resume?

What would be the best way to list an independent consulting project on your resume? Would you just list it as 'Independent Consulting Project', or could you use the name of the company you assisted? i.e. ''Okonkwo's Yam Shack - Independent Business Analyst' or something?

Basically last year I worked on a small consulting project for a local firm, which was originally just supposed to be for a class final. I continued working with them after the semester ended / throughout the summer though, and I was wondering (1) Can I put this on my resume, and (2) If yes, how should I list it?

I would try to avoid using the company's name unless you have an actual affiliation with them, but with a name like "Okonkwo's Yam Shack" I can see why you'd want it on your resume.

2x2MatrixIf you were not an employee of the company, I'd stick with something like "Fortune 500 services firm" or "local organic produce supplier." It's the same if you had worked for BCG and were writing your resume: you wouldn't use client names, just descriptions.
Ah right, that makes sense. Didn't even think that I shouldn't include the company in my description.

Follow-up question though: What would I label the experience on my resume? 'Independent Consulting Project', 'Independent Business Advisory', something like that, and then just list my title underneath it?
