Is Penn CAS Actually Enough for McKinsey?

Incoming Penn CAS freshman planning to major in economics and interested in McKinsey/MBB.

What should I actually be doing during freshman year to ensure I can land an internship? Do clubs and networking matter that much, or is it mostly GPA and experience?

Also what kinds of internships should I look for freshman and sophomore summer? Is the best consulting internship I can get fine or should I be strategic.

I’m considering taking the GMAT for fun, although I have no idea whether that would help at all.
