Is RX Consulting Exit-Unfriendly?

Currently at B4 TAS and am considering lateraling to RX Consulting. Honestly though, I don't see myself staying in the field for the rest of my life if I make that jump; I see myself moving after a couple of years there, to either buy-side, corp, or IB (RX or trad). I know based off what I've read on here that RX consulting gives you a pretty good value prop as a senior looking for a exit that pays well with less hours, but atleast in my eyes, for that very same reason, it isn't such a good value prop for juniors.

For one, I have seen very few exits from the industry, regardless of people on here saying it's possible and easy to move into high-er finance, and two, unless you have a stellar background (target school etc), I don't see how it's possible to get looks from distressed PE and RX IB to an extent, even with RX consulting experience. Of course, there may be a couple firms that look at RX consultants more, but I feel like that isn't the norm.

Not really sure what the best play for me would be: attempt the jump to RX consulting or try for a more exit friendly career like IB or something. Would appreciate any helpful insights

Why don’t you just recruit for both IB and RX CO and get an offer before worrying about this. Either one would be a step up in every aspect from Big4 TAS. You also aren’t guaranteed an offer in either field. I would just recruit for both and then decide once the offer is in hand. This is like kids in UG worrying about whether a firm is PE exit-friendly before they’ve even gotten their SA offer.

Yea that's a fair point but the big diff is I'm already FT, and this will be a lateral transition for me, not a undergrad looking for FT or SA like you mention. Which is why I'm asking the question, I'd rather do my DD beforehand than jump into something and get stuck down the line
