IT/Implementation Consulting to Strategy Consulting- Advice Needed! HELP!
I am currently in my second year as a consultant at a BIG IT/Implementation consulting firm. I am currently in a "rotational training program" and will be promoted into a specific business line in the next 6 months. I am wanting to explore strategy/management consulting. When I was sold on the firm, I was told I would have lots of learning opportunities, rotations, and access to a variety of projects. This was not the case. I want to switch to strategy consulting because I want to make an impact to an organization in a BIG way, rather than supporting a SAP implementation. I also want to eventually work for a startup, so working in a strategy position seems a logical stepping stone.
Any advice on how to make the switch? Is it common? What should I be doing in my current job to make me more marketable?
Thanks for the advice!
