At Bain (and I believe BCG follows the same philosophy) we generally tend to follow a generalist model. Meaning you'll get exposed to multiple industries early on and will be expected to specialise later on.

Now, that being said, you can of course talk to staffing about your preferred industries, especially if that fits within a more long-term plan. However, be advised that while they might keep you in mind if a project in that sector pops up, they won't keep you unstaffed for months until that happens.

If you are super intent on specialising early, Bain definitely won't be a great fit for that however. I would say there is value in the generalist model though.
