Lateral Consutling Hires

I'm a first time poster long time reader. On this forum you hear alot about lateral hires in banking from a mm to a bb, etc. Are there lateral hires in consulting? If so when does that process take place? Thanks.

I have heard of lateral hires from 2/3rd tier to other 2/3rd tier firms. I've never heard of anyone getting to MBB, Oliver Wyman, or other more prestigious consulting firms from other consulting firms (except from SA to FT).

Head hunters have tried to poach us for MBB at times, but I have never heard of anyone from my firm (monitor / parthenon / LEK ish) to actually go to another firm. It doesnt make sense. Yes MBB is great, but its not like my exit opps are soooo substancially worse than at MBB. It doesnt make sense to lose a year or two years.

Now if we are talking at the MBA level I think the argument there could be okay, but you are turning down reimbursement which is a hard pill to swallow as well. Personally I have never seen it although not because it can't happen more because we dont want it to.
