MBA to consultancy

Hi I am currently in Sales and trading about to finish off my first year of being an Analyst. I have missed most of the deadlines for Strategy Consultancy and would have to apply for the next year start date. Hence I decided to do an MBA and then join consultancy as a more senior level. However I have a couple of questions.

First I would appreciate if you can tell if I will satisfy the work experience of the MBA programme. I only have 1year behind my back in a BB. Secondly, what type of schools do I have to be at in order to be able then later to get an offer from the top strategy consultancies: the likes of McKinsey, BCG, Bain.

Thank you guys.

HBS is the big one, Kellogg, GSB, and Wharton are all well represented. In the south the next level is Booth, Fuqua, Darden..

ProboscisInsead sends a lot of people to top consulting firms.

Probably because McKinsey have got an MBA flatrate with them, i.e. send a lot of consultants who already are at McK. Good for McK because you tick the MBA box in one year rather than two, good for INSEAD because it looks sexy in the recruiting brochures. I'd do a Linkedin search on how many non-MBB actually go MBB via INSEAD.

I haven't met too many from Cornell...I'd say you're better off somewhere like Darden, Ross, McCombs or Fuqua if that's the tier you're looking at. There are too many better schools in the Northeast for Cornell to get much regional play.
