MBB - Follow up after first round intreview
hi folks,
I had a first round interview with an MBB firm last week. They said that they would get back to me this week so I am still waiting for that.
My question is whether it would be appropriate for me to follow up with my interviewers to receive feedback on the case/interview performance? One of the interviewers mentioned "I look forward to seeing you again" after the in-person interview and in his reply to my thank you email sent after the interview.

I had first rounds with all three firms, and every firm gave me feedback when they passed me on to the second round. The feedback was along the lines of "You did X really well, we want to see more Y." At this point, I wouldn't ask them for any feedback--if they want to give it, they will let you know when they call you about next steps.

How long did it take them them to get back to you after first rounds to inform you that you had moved onto the next round? Also, were you interviewing on campus or as an industry hire?
I was interviewing through on-campus recruiting, so I heard back really fast (within a day). I think that kind of turnaround is unique to target-school MBA hiring, though. Are you interviewing through OCR or through a different route?
I am going through the industry-hire route for a post-MBA position.. I chose the latest date I could get per the options provided for dates of interviews. I am not sure whether this is a rolling process until they hire as predetermined number of people or they do it campus-style, i.e. complete all first rounds before calling anyone back for 2nd rounds.. I would appreciate any insights you might have on that..
Also, am I reading too much into one of the interviewers saying "I look forward to seeing you again" or does that mean the interviewer's opinion of my performance was positive?
I hate to say it, but I wouldn't read anything into it. Interviewers are trained to make sure the interviewees have a positive experience, so they could have just been keeping things pleasant.
I don't know how the process differs for industry hires, unfortunately. I know the consulting recruiting process is a well-oiled machine in business school, so I'd guess that industry hires are a less-mechanized approach to interviewing. You probably just have to hang in there until they get back to you.
