MBB Location Preferences/Percentages (FT)

Hi all,

I'm currently applying for FT positions at MBB/Tier 2. I'm originally from Eastern Europe but studying at a UK target (Oxbridge) and would very much like to remain in the UK; can't imagine living anywhere else long-term (plus I'm only allowed to be outside of the UK for a max. of 12 months in the first 2 years after graduation to remain eligible for the UK citizenship).

The problem is, I'm aware of how competitive MC is for FT recruitment in London and that it's going to be even tougher this year so I'm also considering applying to my home country's MBB offices where I was told by local partners that I would be a strong candidate (CV-wise).

Do I risk anything if I put the Eastern European office on my list of preferences (+Dublin for McK where I have no connection to the country but it seems the closest to the UK culturally)? I heard from some sources that it would limit my chances in London (since the UK offices apparently prefer to send people to their native countries where they have a stronger chance of acceptance). If that's not the case, what is the importance of the percentage preferences and what would be the best way to make sure that they understand that London is my main priority without 'offending' the Eastern European office by giving them 1-5%?

Also, in case I would be offered a spot by MBB in Eastern Europe, would it be possible for me to transfer to London within a year? I feel very strongly about getting the UK citizenship asap and will not get it if I leave the country for a day longer than 12 months (no, visiting it every few weekends doesn't change anything).

Thanks a lot and sorry for the complexity of the whole issue. Will be grateful for any advice.
