MBB optimum start date

I will be joining MBB FT in NYC in the summer of 2026. When is the best time to start ? Should I start mid to late August post the interns finishing or should I wait to September pre/post Labour Day ? For various reasons I am not considering delaying my start any later to go travelling etc.

Starting mid to late August, right after the interns finish, can be a strategic choice. This timing allows you to settle in, get familiar with the office environment, and start building relationships before the full post-Labor Day rush. It also gives you a head start on onboarding and acclimating to the firm's culture without the immediate pressure of peak workload periods.

However, starting in early September, either pre- or post-Labor Day, aligns with the traditional start of the business season. This timing ensures you're stepping in when most of the team is fully engaged, and you can integrate into ongoing projects more seamlessly.

Both options have their merits, but if you're looking for a smoother transition and time to adjust, mid to late August might be the better choice. If you'd prefer to dive into the action when the office is in full swing, early September could be ideal.
