Based on the most helpful WSO content, introductory calls with McKinsey recruiters are typically not case interviews. These calls are usually focused on discussing your background, the role, and the recruitment process. It's an opportunity for the recruiter to assess your fit and for you to ask questions about the position or the firm.

However, it's always a good idea to be prepared to discuss your experiences and motivations clearly, as first impressions matter. You likely won't face a case study during this call, but you should still be ready to articulate your "why McKinsey" and "why consulting" answers effectively.
