if mckinsey is interviewing at my school on january 16, how far in advance do they typically notify students for first round interviews?

does your school system have a pre-select sign-up dates, alternate dates, etc.? It should be there.
If you are worried about time for preperation, you'll be fine. They thoroughly prep their candidates, so as far as I can remember when I was going through it, about 2 weeks for coaching sessions with BA's, mock case interviews, and even interactive sessions with all the candidates.
