McKinsey Referrals for Non-Targets
How do referrals work at McKinsey? I'm from a non-target school and I would appreciate any insight on how referrals work for summer internships.

In my experience (UK), referrals essentially flag your CV so you go from being 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 3,000 but still go through normal screening. You're essentially first pick for human screening.
How much difference does the level of the consultant make? Is it easier to get the first round if your referral is by a partner vs an engagement manager?
