Most "Frat" Friendly StratConsult

Ok, this pretty dumb/meathead I'll admit, but I want to start thinking a little about what job/pre-MBA/post banking job I want to shoot/position for. I know this is blasphemy, but I really like the "idea" of strategy consulting. I feel like I could put the finer points of my engineering background to use at a good tech focused firm. So to the punch line; what firms are the most frat friendly/least granola. I don't really care for MBB, I was looking into LEK, Boston Consulting, possibly the Monitor Group (they place pretty well in HBS I've been told). My ultimate goal is VC/growth equity if that helps. Thanks,

  • Boston Consulting is a member of MBB
  • If you really want a fratty, hard partying culture then Bain & Co. is what you're looking for. Their culture is famous/notorious.
  • If you want to work in VC/Growth equity then you can't do better than MBB (by far) ... so I don't understand why you would turn your nose up at them...
  • LEK and OC&C are decent options because they do a lot of PE work
  • Also consider Oliver Wyman, Monitor Group, and Booz & Co.

Sweet spinner, exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't turning up my nose, I thought thought some other firms were a little more accessible/less competitive. I always assumed MBB was McKinsey, Bain & Booz?

So Bain's culture is pretty decent I take it? Sorry for the dense questions, never done a lot of researching on consulting. How are they for industry consulting (ie tech)?

If you want "frat" don't go for Booz, the culture there is much more on the uptight side with a stronger separation between "work" and "play" than you might get elsewhere.
