Moving divisions?

So basically I’m interning with EYP in TSE (which is legacy TAS) this summer. I’ve always been interested in corporate strategy work and want to get into the strategy part of EYP.

Anyone has any advice on what I should do? Should I just reach out to the HR and tell them that I’m more interested in strategy and want to switch groups? Or should I network with people in strategy and tell them that I want to switch? Or should I just stay quiet throughout the internship and see if there’s chance to switch divisions once I joined full time?

I really don’t know how to approach this situation so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Do not mention this to literally anybody and wait until you have a return offer to bring it up and ask your recruiter something to the effect of "Hi, I really enjoyed my experienced in XYZ this summer, but I think I'm more interested in ABC, which I understand this other group does. I really liked EY-P and want to stay with the firm, do you know if it'd be possible for me to be considered for a position in this other group?"

I wouldn't be surprised if you're told no

They'll tell you no, what you need to do is recruit for other strategy consulting jobs

1. Get return offer from current group

2. Get strategy consulting job offers from other firms

3. Tell them you want to do Parthenon strategy

4. If they say yes, great. If they say no, say you have other offers. Suggest interviewing for the Strategy team

5. If they say no, you can decide whether you want to stay in current role in EY or take other offer.

Without other strategy consulting offers you really have no leverage
