Moving from Tech consulting at an Investment Bank

Hi, I have been working at a BB as a business analyst in its IT department for a little less than a year. I want to move into management consulting because I find this job too unchallenging.

I was hoping someone could let me know what is the best way to break into management consulting and if thats even possible(from what i have heard its really though).

Where do I start to make this career transition? Since I am a recent graduate I hope that I wont get bogged down in BB IT...

Focus your resume more on the skills transferable like analysis, presentations, communications, client relationship. Show passion for business consulting. Explain how you've owned a piece in your project, developed BRD's or use cases or test cases and find out the ultimate impact. Remember CAR format? That's the biggest thing is consulting --> Impact. Consulting firms want to see how your work can impact(reduce cost/increase revenue) the balance sheet of the customer versus IT firms, who are focused on getting the requirements done on time, both have different purposes. Most of the big management consulting firms have technology practices, that might be your best fit since you already have the background, look into IT strategy where you can leverage and perform as a strong consultant. Start preparing for cases, case in point is a good book. Last, network as much as you can and try to attend an info session close by. Good luck!

Talk methodology. During the interview process you should explain the people interaction aspect, if you have resolved conflict between technical and business teams. Managing a tough team member, don't think it should be a problem if your confident about people skills, they will know it right away.
