My PEIs suck

Made it to the final round at McKinsey by the skin of my teeth. Much of the feedback I got was about how my PEI just barely cleared the bar. I already struggled a lot at coming up with the stories I used for this round; how do I get better in time for my interview?

I also have a Bain R1 coming up and am wondering if I should just overindex on that, since they don't care about behaviorals nearly as much.

I struggled with something similar in R1 and the feedback I received was to not worry much about the content and instead really focus on the way you tell the story, focusing on your own actions and intent.

it’s a chance to show your decision-making process and personal awareness. Focus less on the content of the story (setting, what you were doing, what happened, etc.) and really convey WHY you chose to act the way you did. Why did you approach the situation that way? Why did you say that? What were you thinking and feeling? What other choices did you have, and why did you choose your decision? Why does the story stick with you? The interviewer should feel as if they are in your shoes.
