Depends on the country and company. Why wouldn't you do an internship in the US to try and get a return offer?
Yes
I did this. So long as you're interning at a globally recognized company (e.g., MBB, Deloitte, etc.), there's no disadvantage. If anything, it might be a source of advantage as people love to ask questions about it.
