Other Areas in Consulting Besides Management/IT

Hi,

I'm still trying to explore career opportunities, and I read a bit about consulting. I think this could be something I enjoy since it involves a lot of travel and strategic work, but I keep reading about management consulting, or IT consulting (the later of which no one seems to want to do). I was wondering what other areas of consulting there are. For example, are there people who help with pure operations (i.e. logistics, making daily activities more efficient, etc.) and things like that? I know that anyone can be a consultant for any field, but just as Management/IT are LARGE fields in consulting, what are the other large, but perhaps not as big areas within consulting, and more specifically, business consulting?

Furthermore, I was wondering if all consulting firms want either highly quantitative degrees or finance degrees, or can other majors work for the different fields as well?

thanks
