Passionate about Corp Strategy role, don't have the "typical" experience

I am in the Big 4 M&A practice with experience in diligence, IT cost optimization and IT strategy. Have a MS degree from a B-school...so not your typical MBA and MBB profile.
I am interested in pursuing a Corp Strategy role in industry. Would like your thoughts on how to break the profile barrier and prepare for such a role.
