No idea about PwC specifically. I'm staring at 3 different background checks new employers have done on me, and here's what they contain: - SSN trace - 7-yr County criminal searches in every county I've lived and some of the ones I've worked - 7-yr Federal criminal search for every state I've lived in - Education verification for all universities I attended (think this just means enrollment, firms usually check transcripts themselves) - Employment verification for every firm on my resume - Civil action check (would show lawsuits and probably bankruptcies)

Didn't have to drug test, but if that's why you're asking, there is a simple solution. Not judging and acknowledge there are different strokes for different folks, but if the job is more important than the habit, STOP.

As a side note, many states have a provision where you can request to be provided a copy of your background check. I always check that box, you know, for science.

Will agree with everything here. I didn't go through PwC either, but my firm had quite an invasive drug test. Cut a huge lock of my hair. Will echo stopping any "habit" you have for the job as well, some of my friends got screwed and their offer was rescinded.

Some employers will verify salaries as well, so I'd be very careful with any embellishments. I'm sure there is a little leeway as far as actual number, but you may try to hit a home run and end up striking out.
