So I recently didn't get an interview with at a boutique consulting firm that recruits on campus, but I've networked with a couple people in the firm. I found out that one of my friends is recently not taking her interview slot due to another interview, which leaves an extra slot.
I'm wondering if I should e-mail the people I know at the firm and strongly imply that I really want this extra slot. I have interviews at Bain and BCG, if I could possibly use those to leverage my position.
Any tips on what I should do and how I should craft this e-mail if I decide to write one?
