Rejected from MBA intern at MBB

Hi everyone,

This post is not for me but someone very close to me who recently found out they didn’t get any MBB internship roles (they are at a top tier European MBA program - INSEAD/LBS).

My question:

1) After going through the first round and getting rejected, does it count against them when they apply for a full time position?

2) If they don’t intern at a strategy consulting firm (no offers yet) will they be at a huge disadvantage when applying for full time?

3) Other than strategy consulting, what’s the best internship they can do to maximise their chances of success at their next attempt?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

Can’t speak to EMEA but for US last year.

1) no

2) only slight disadvantage

3) corporate strategy, tech pm, and IB were all pretty successful in re recruiting for MBB at my mba
