If you didn’t go to a target school and didn’t start off at a bank, can b-school be your ticket into consulting/finance? For reference I’m referring to my situation and I work for a market research firm helping buy side investors with data.

How long have you worked? If you're still pretty early into your career you can still break into consulting/finance without b-school, but if you're in your late 20s early 30s, then it makes sense to do b-school first.
