What Consulting Firms to re-recruit for in addition to MBB

Class of 2027, will be interning at Altman Solon this summer (major office). What non-MBB firms are worth re-recruiting for if my long term goal is consulting -> possible MBA -> big tech or PE/GE/VC? I recognize Altman Solon doesn't have the biggest brand name rec. Just looking for firms that are big enough upgrades that warrant putting effort into recruiting for FT.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, if you're looking to re-recruit for full-time roles at non-MBB firms that could serve as strong stepping stones for your long-term goals (consulting → MBA → big tech or PE/GE/VC), here are some recommendations:

Top Tier-2 Consulting Firms:

These firms are well-regarded and can provide strong brand recognition, excellent exit opportunities, and a solid foundation for your career trajectory: 1. Oliver Wyman
2. LEK Consulting
3. Roland Berger
4. Strategy& (PwC)
5. Kearney

Boutique or Specialized Firms:

If you're looking for more niche expertise or closer access to partners and clients, consider these firms: 1. TMT Boutique Consulting Firms: These firms often have strong reputations in specific industries like tech, media, and telecom, which align with your goals.
2. Alvarez & Marsal: Known for restructuring and operational consulting, which can be a unique value-add for your resume.

Why Re-Recruit?

While Altman Solon is a strong firm, especially in TMT, re-recruiting for these firms could provide: - Broader Brand Recognition: Firms like Oliver Wyman or Strategy& have a more global presence and stronger MBA placement records.
- Diverse Exit Opportunities: These firms often have alumni networks that span across industries, including big tech, PE, and VC.

If you're targeting an MBA and eventual transition to big tech or PE/GE/VC, focusing on firms with strong brand equity and alumni networks in these areas will be worth the effort.
