I'm a 3.85 rising junior at a target (not HYPS) but my sophomore internship wasn't great (think analyst at a F1000 tech company) and I have average leadership experience. I will be applying for every consulting internship I can including MBB but I feel like its more realistic for me to shoot for a non-consulting internship after my junior year.
From my understanding, if my ultimate goal is consulting, summer internships would be ranked something like this:
MBB>tier 2 consulting>boutiques>corporate strategy>???.
Is this correct? Any ideas on which firms offer good internships that lead into consulting? Thanks a lot!
I wouldn't have corporate roles at the end of that list. Don't underestimate the value of a big brand name. Companies like PepsiCo, Google, and Apple jump on the page when I'm reviewing resumes.
You are definitely underestimating corporate strategy. Most of the people working in these departments are ex-consultants. I know people who passed on MBB & Tier 2 internships to do corp strat at major brands.
