Which of the MBB firms would you pick?

I have three summer offers for each of the MBB firms. Biggest difference is McK and BCG are mid Atlantic, and Bain is SF.

Culturally I think I mesh best with BCG, but is going to a SF/NY type city going to really mean materially better exits in the future?

Would love to hear others thoughts on this, have been going back and forth on it.

My vote is Bain SF. Bain SF is Bain's best and strongest office. Given their proximity to tech, they do the coolest work and are the strongest of the MBB on the West Coast.

While BCG and MCK's staffing models mean you don't necessarily get stuck in that region only doing work there, there's something to be said to be in a flagship office. Better talent, more opportunity, more visibility.

All 3 great firms, congrats on having the optionality.

Depends what the “mid Atlantic office” is. Technically mid Atlantic includes NY, but I’m going to assume ur mck/bcg offers aren’t NY. Most likely Bain unless u did not want to do tech or if the mid Atlantic is for example DC and u really want government work which Bain doesn’t do much of anyways. Also just think about where u want to live because im guessing you’re an MBA candidate and family stuff seems to matter more then compared to out of undergrad

If this was McKinsey NY you would go there though

Yes non NY offices, yes post MBA. I think industry wise no real preferences, and from networking convos can get most types of projects at any of the offices

Then if industry agnostic, perhaps where you'd like to live or see yourself having a real mentor - maybe an interviewer or someone really pulling to have you? Having a senior in your corner > "promises of culture"

Thats the issue i am not sure, I dont think PE which would be an obvious SF one.

I think Tech is interesting but also basically everything from Retail to Industrials
