Would you change your job if you were me?
Hi, Looking for some advice on career progression from the knowledgeable members here.
Two years ago, I joined a Big 4 as a Senior (tech consulting) out of a top-20 MBA program as an Experienced Hire with 6+ years of non-consulting, but brand name, experience. I was told that a promotion to Manager was likely in two years due to my last non-MBA role as a Manager in a top bank's business analytics unit. However, that didn't happen in spite of excellent appraisal reports and I'm considering a change.
Now, I believe that a promotion next year is very likely, and so I'm trying to determine whether a move makes sense at this point in time. While my targets do include the rest of the Big 4, I'm not averse to moving to the right boutique firm. I don't really have a network in MBB, so that's not likely. My current base is $125k. Also, if a change is a legitimate career move, what kind of premium should I ask for over my current salary? Should the expectation be more for a boutique to compensate for the lower brand value?
