Acquisitive CorpDev Teams

Hi I’m currently an analyst looking to either go into PE or CorpDev. I’ve always heard the term Acquisitive CorpDev teams

For those of you who are at one, I’m wondering what that generally entails, and what the nature of work is like for you. Is it more ideal to be at one with high deal volume or more relaxed / spaced work?

Being part of an acquisitive CorpDev team generally means that you're part of a team that is actively seeking out and executing acquisitions as a key part of the company's growth strategy. The nature of the work can vary greatly depending on the company and the industry, but it often involves identifying potential acquisition targets, conducting due diligence, negotiating deal terms, and managing the integration process post-acquisition.

As for whether it's more ideal to be at a team with high deal volume or more relaxed/spaced work, it really depends on what you're looking for in your career. High deal volume can mean more opportunities to learn and grow, as well as more intense workloads and potentially longer hours. On the other hand, a more relaxed or spaced out work environment might offer a better work-life balance, but potentially fewer opportunities for rapid learning and advancement.

In the end, it's about finding the right fit for you. Consider what you want out of your career, your work-life balance preferences, and your long-term goals when making this decision.

It’s all about finding the right fit for you personally.

Things that matter more when looking for a place to work include: the way you think you’ll be treated in the role, opportunities to grow and advance, general vibes of team. A lot of the time it comes down to the small details and general conditions / environment that matter a lot more than stuff like deal reps. You could have the lightest workflow but a difficult team, or a ton of work but a great team and mentors.

Here’s a good indication if a place would be ideal: if your offer letter reads like a severance letter, it’s probably not the place to go.
