Advice on Career Trajectory in Corp Dev

I wanted advice on my current career prospect.

For info, I'm at a non-target with a poor finance alumni count, even for non-targets. I plan on accepting my offer for a junior Corp Dev & Strategy internship at a F500 tech company.

However, The corporate development team is small (5-7 people, mainly directors).  From talking to them, it seemed like the corporate development division was a lot less structured until the new CFO a couple years ago arrived and they've made it cohesive.

What I'm trying to ask is do you think it's worth sticking around hoping for rapid promotions in an expanding corp dev division or should I use it as lateral fodder for ft ib recruting (I've had boutique IB experience)? I liked the team but do these generally promising careers?

Would love to hear insights, I would imagine there are a good amount of people who joined growing corp dev teams with similar ambitions.
