Best Route IB -> Remote Corp Fin Role?

Hi fellow monkeys,

I’m wrapping up my An1 year at a MM IB that does primarily debt deals.

I’m looking to move from IB to a remote corp finance / corp strategy role within the next year or so.

My wife has the opportunity to do a travel medicine stint within the next 2 years so I’d like a job that would let use both bounce around the country for a few years.

What would be the way to structure this move? From what I understand remote jobs are harder to come by and as a result are way more competitive. Would finding a good recruiter be step one?

I appreciate any insight / advice.

Thanks!

I work for an F50 doing remote corp fin (only see my coworkers in person for work parties / traveling for the occasional conference) , and everyone on all our finance teams are remote.  Pretty much everyone I know who works at a comparable company is still remote.  I stay in contact with a handful of recruiters at any given time, and it seems like the smaller AND older the company, the more likely they are to require in office work (young startups don't seem to mind remote / nor do big companies).

If you're patient, you'll get a remote offer.    Good luck!
