Big 4 Advisory to Corporate Strategy
Hey everyone,
What are some of the exit opportunities from Big 4 Advisory, particularly, at Deloitte. I recently graduated from a top school and am currently working in Deloitte's Advisory group. I would like to either try and get into S&O, or move into a corporate strategy role in a couple of years.
I know this site really hates on Big 4 but I would like to know what kinds of exit ops are available from Deloitte's Advisory. I don't want to do any internal Audit/controls testing type work.
To simplify:
1. Is it possible to go from Deloitte Advisory to corporate strategy?
2. How difficult is it to switch from Advisory to S&O
3. What is the typical career path people take after leaving Deloitte Advisory
Thanks in advance!
I've seen it happen. Mainly in low competition cities though, metros 40 and below
Thanks! Is there anything particular that people have done in order to make the switch?
Just look for companies asking for big 4 experience in their strategy departments. I personally saw a guy go from PWS Assurance to Corporate Strategy at the manager level. He did have a MSF right after undergrad however.
It may be an option but you may need an intermediate step to make it happen (especially if you don't have an MBA). Or, as a previous poster stated, it could also be a possibility in a smaller market. Also might be an option with a smaller company. Will be hugely dependent on your practice within advisory as well.
I don't think you will be going from D&T advisory to a Fortune 50 (or 100) strategy group. There are plenty of people from traditional consulting roles or exceptionally qualified staff who are interested in those jobs. If you don't have an MBA, getting one from a top school and recruiting from there may be an option.
Search LInkedIn for an understanding of what a realistic D&T advisory to private career path looks like.
Thank you! I do plan on getting an MBA after a few years of experience. What practice within Advisory do you think will be the best stepping stone?
